A Conversation with Pottery - Object Art
To me, hand made art is intrinsic. It is essential to the artistry of life.
Years ago, I was in a contest of sorts with a group of bonsai enthusiasts. A group of items were being raffled off. I won my choice of an item. When I saw this handmade bonsai pot on the table, it spoke to me. It is a small pot measuring 5.5 inches in diameter. I could see the maker enjoying the process of creating a new piece that had never existed until then. I could see natural design and a whimsy of abstract randomness. I could see myself. I really enjoy looking at this piece. I treasure its value, to me. The imperfection is the perfection. I have had this pot for about 9 years now and it is still brand new in my eyes. One has to appreciate that clay and color glaze are formed and heated to create an object such as this wonderful piece. The artist put his heart into this object and then sent it out into the world, of itself, to have a life of its own. I am grateful to be able to experience art created by another creator and giver. Enjoy a few photos of this really lovely little bonsai pot for yourself.
